SPONSORED: The College Park Neighborhood Association is celebrating the “Mod in Mid” for their 27th Annual Tour of Homes event on Sunday, November 11, from 1-5:00 p.m. The theme of this year’s tour will be mid-century modern homes.
The College Park neighborhood is home to an impressive inventory of historic mid-century homes and the tour will feature designs by noted architects as Paul Gerard Zelones, Manfred Lopatka, Ernest David Rapp, Hayward Shacklett, Nils M. Schweizer, and Arthur Beck.
Mid-century modern architects created a visual style that harkens back to a time when America was steeped in an atmosphere of experimentation and social progressiveness, which is reflected in the layouts and positioning of the homes of the age.
Most of the houses on this year’s tour are within one square mile of each other and located in the Ardsley Manor and Palomar sections of College Park.
Two tickets to the Tour of Homes event are included with the purchase of a membership in College Park Neighborhood Association; tickets for non-members are $25.
If you are not a CPNA member, you can purchase a membership for the same amount the day of the event or online at mycpna.org/join/. Day-of-tour tickets are $25 and will be available at the tour registration table at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, located at 2499 N. Westmoreland Drive [GMap].
This year’s tour falls on Veteran’s Day so admission is free for all US Veterans as a thank you for their service.
