College Park Gallery (Website), a collaborative art and event space located at 2300 Edgewater Drive [GMap] has announced that it will close up shop by the end of the year.
The space opened in early 2021, under the direction of Flynn Dobbs and Jim Hobart of Macbeth Studio (Website). Hobart would use the space for his photography studio during the day and at night it would function as an art gallery, run by Dobbs, a certified appraiser and curator.
Dobbs was recently named as the new Public Art Coordinator for the City of Orlando.
Dobbs said, “College Park Gallery has been my home for the past four years. When Jim and I
first discussed this idea in 2020, it felt almost too good to be true. But it soon became a reality. Since 2021, we’ve hosted over 20 exhibitions, showcasing the work of hundreds of local
artists. Fulfilling our vision to support Orlando’s vibrant creative community has been an
incredible gift, and I am deeply grateful for the time we’ve had here.”
The last art event to open in the space was Trigger Warning, a solo exhibition by LA-based artist Corie Mattie (Website), that opened on Friday, November 1. More events are being scheduled through the end of the year, before the gallery ultimately closes on December 31.
