The Orlando Museum of Art (Website) opened its annual Florida Prize in Contemporary Art this past weekend, featuring some of Florida’s most progressive artists. Each year, OMA’s curatorial team surveys artists working throughout the State before inviting ten to participate and awarding one of them with a $20,000 best-in-show award.
This year’s winner was Yanira Collado (Instagram), known for her intricate and layered installations of mixed-media works, in recognition of her innovative approach to her work.
“I am deeply honored to be recognized by the Orlando Museum of Art with the Florida Prize. This award is a testament to the power of art to communicate and connect, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share my work with a wider audience. I hope my pieces inspire viewers to reflect on their histories and the shared narratives that bind us together.”
