Orlando Fringe (Website) just celebrated its 33rd year of presenting fringe theatrical productions in the City Beautiful, and this year’s fest featured over 1,200 artists from around the world.
The 14-day Orlando Fringe Theatre Festival featured over 115 shows running from dance and spoken word to comedy and musicals. It saw roughly 50,000 attendees, sold 30,753 tickets, and paid out roughly $455,972 to participating artists in ticket sales.
In comparison, last year’s festival featured 120 shows, attracted over 67,241 attendees, sold 43,428 tickets, and paid over 2,000 Fringe artists.
“The unofficial theme of this year’s Fringe must have been ‘change’! There were so many new aspects to the festival, some visible to guests, others invisible, and all impactful. Through it all, the Festival team – which includes artists, technicians, volunteers and staff – showed up, showed out and helped tens of thousands of guests ‘Get Fringed’.”
– SCOTT GALBRAITH, INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ORLANDO FRINGE
The Orlando Fringe produces The Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival, the longest-running Fringe in the United States. It is a member of the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals (CAFF), the United States Association of Fringe Festivals (USAFF), and the World Fringe Association. It also follows the CAFF mandate to remain 100% uncensored (the artists have full control over their performance), 100% unjuried (performers are chosen at random by a lottery), 100% inclusive (everyone is welcome at Fringe), 100% accessible for all artists and audiences alike, with 100% of ticket sales given back to the artists
