We told you HERE in July 2021 that local writer and publisher Ryan Rivas, of Burrow Press (Facebook | Website) fame, had compiled a series called Nextdoor in Colonialtown based on actual conversations and posts from his neighbors on the Nextdoor web platform. That (particularly juicy) collection is now available as a book.
In the book, Rivas pairs photographs of his neighborhood with snippets of paranoid conversations and posts he found on his local Nextdoor page that call for increased policing, blatantly racist commentary on strangers spotted in the community, and coyote warnings. Like this collection below.
The book is available for purchase HERE for $28. A release party will be held at Will’s Pub on Sunday, October 23 at 7 p.m., with readings scheduled for 7:30 p.m. followed y a dance party. You can RSVP HERE if you’d like to attend.
