The Kendrick B. Melrose Family Foundation has given a $500,000 endowment to The Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation, and Creativity at the Downtown Branch of the Orange County Library System.

The endowment will be used to update the Center’s equipment in the VR, photography, video, and audio studios as well as in the maker space which houses the robotics lab, 3-D printers, etc.

The Center opened on February 8, 2014, following a $1 million gift from the same family foundation, made in the name of Mr. Melrose’s mother who had an interest in emerging tech.

The Center is a 26,000 SF space on the second floor of the Downtown Library that offers free access to hardware, equipment, software, support, and programming.

There is a Melrose Creative Expo scheduled for Saturday, February 16 at 1 p.m. to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Melrose Center.
