The City of Orlando has awarded a one-time additional distribution of $202,141 from the City’s general fund to United Arts of Central Florida to be distributed to local arts organizations in city limits.
The motivation behind the grant was to attempt to bridge a major gap in funding to Florida cultural organizations which saw a 94 percent decrease in funding from the State this year.
The grant is in addition to an annual funding agreement between the organization and the City of Orlando that has been in place since 1991. The funding allocation for the recent fiscal year was $470,570.
United Arts (Website) serves Lake, Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties and funds more than 60 local arts and cultural organizations.
