This October, Snap! Orlando will be launching an ongoing public art project with locations across Orlando called, CITY UNSEEN.
This new project will feature fusions of works by internationally renowned artists and utilize augmented reality tech. Experiences will include murals “coming to life,” projection mapping, and “teleporting the viewer into a 360-degree visit of the artist’s Los Angeles studio.”
Artists include Miami-based multidisciplinary artist Felice Grodin, Turkish digital artist Can Büyükberber, Los Angeles artist Nancy Baker Cahill, German street artist Mark Gmehling, and Central Florida installation artists Mark Gerstein and Synthestruct, among others.
A CITY UNSEEN app will let users enjoy the full range of art installations and immersive AR experiences at each installation site.
This project is what Snap! co-owner Patrick Kahn was referring to in our write up following the destruction of the Mills 50 Mark Gmehling poster. It is funded in part by Orange County Government through the Arts & Cultural Affairs Program.
Opening night is scheduled for 7 p.m. October 5 at the Snap! Space at 1013 E. Colonial Drive [GMap]. Follow their Facebook event page for more up-to-date information.
