The Orlando Science Center unveiled a new mixed-media art installation on May 10, utilizing a former installation of origami hearts.
Local artist Christy McCutchen (Website) was asked to create a tribute to Pulse victims and survivors using hearts that had been on display in the Science Center’s entry bridge following the 2016 shooting.
The paper hearts were replaced in 2017 with small crystal ones that were more durable, and the Center put out a Call for Artists to transform the paper pieces into something new. McCutchen’s project, Facets of Love, was selected.
The final piece is a multi-dimensional installation reminiscent of stained-glass or a kaleidoscope and was installed in the Science Center, and on view for visitors.
