Although not a hyper-local type of story, we covered the Pokemon Go fad quite a bit when it first launched because of its immediate impact on our public parks and streets in Orlando – there were people in them.
The app allowed users to catch critters via a game on their mobile devices that used the phone’s camera to make it seem as if they were really there.
This new Jurassic Park-inspired game app is named after the upcoming addition to the dinosaurs-eating-people franchise, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom that will be released on June 22, 2018. The location-based, augmented reality game will challenge players to catch dinosaurs, hatch new ones, and cross-breed new ones using DNA cocktails. They can also battle them against competing players. Sound familiar?
All of this happens in the streets, parks, and public spaces, requiring players to get off their butts and out of their homes in order to excel at the game.
Look for the app to launch around the same time as the movie this summer.
Editor’s Note: In case you forgot, here’s a handy list of how not to play Augmented Reality games like a jerk when you’re in public.
