Mayor Buddy Dyer will introduce the City of Orlando’s first Poet Laureate at an upcoming City Council meeting on October 23, 2017.
After a search was announced in July of this year, HERE, the Poet Laureate Selection Committee narrowed down a list of 49 applicants to three finalists, who were then interviewed by the Mayor. Published poet, Susan Lilley, was chosen for the position and appointed by the Mayor for a one-year term, with options for three, one-year renewals.
Lilley is also a current teacher at Trinity Prep and Rollins College.
