As we wrote HERE in January, Citrus Restaurant will be replaced by a new Mexican concept. That new concept, Reyes Mezcaleria (Facebook | Website), will soft open on Monday, May 1, if all goes well with the City.
Jason Chin, the face behind Seito Sushi (Facebook | Website) and The Osprey Tavern (Facebook | Website) in Baldwin Park. Chin grew up in Apopka and loved going to all of the restaurants in the area, while growing up.
“Mexican food is fun. It makes you think of having a good time.” – Jason Chin
The interior of Reyes was designed and executed by Sue Chin (Website), who happens to be Jason Chin’s wife. Sue Chin has an extensive background in theme park design with stints at The Nassal Company, Nickelodeon Recreation Creative Studio, and Universal Studios Creative. She also designed the interior of Seito and Osprey Tavern.
Menu highlights include hand-made tortillas dishes like pozole, elote (grilled street corn), beef tongue, and birria de borego (Mexican lamb stew). All of which will be served on plateware by local ceramicist Kim Sager of Thrown by Hand (Facebook | Instagram).
The bar will feature roughly 50 different mezcals and tequilas.
Hours will mirror sister restaurant Seito Sushi in Baldwin Park:
