Renowned ceramic artist Lisa Orr (Instagram) will be visiting Crealde School of Art (Website) and hosting an event and talk later this week. Orr is a full-time studio potter who teaches, lectures, and exhibits nationally and abroad.
From 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday, October 24, and Friday, October 25, Orr will be hosting a workshop teaching how to build your own super-efficient Rocket Kiln, using discarded electric kilns and a few recycled pallets. Workshop-goers will learn how to soda-fire their own Cone 10 bisque pieces in eco-friendly kilns that produce no visible smoke and are perfect for driveways, art centers, or off-grid art studios.
This workshop also includes a brief lecture, an artist talk, and a live demonstration of Lisa Orr’s signature clay techniques.
Orr will also be hosting a free talk at 7 p.m. October 24 on the main Crealde campus in Winter Park discussing her 40-year career.
