The majority of the lineup for the upcoming Shell Shock II metal festival in Orlando has backed out following the news that Kyle Rittenhouse was going to be making a special guest appearance.
Rittenhouse was the 17-year-old who shot three men in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in August 2020 amid protests following the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Rittenhouse fatally shot two men who tried to take his gun and injured another. Rittenhouse was acquitted in November 2021 after claiming the shootings were in self-defense and he became a cause celebre for American conservative organizations.
Level 13 Event Center on northern Edgewater Drive, shared in a social post that Rittenhouse would be attending the event, scheduled for October 19, as a special guest. The event, called Shell Shock II, is being advertised as a fundraiser for veterans and first responders dealing with PTSD.
As a result of the announcement, the event lost a number of its performers, including Evergreen Terrace, Southpaw, and Let Me Bleed, to back out. Leaving only a Texan Slipknot cover act as the headliner.
The event, hosted by The Antihero Podcast (Apple), is still taking place on October 19. Click HERE for more information.
