Following the exit of current Executive Director, George Wallace, the Orlando Fringe Theater Festival (Website), will soon begin interviewing his possible replacements. Under Wallace’s guidance, the festival has grown to be one of the largest arts non-profits and art events in the region.
This is a full-time position with a work week that typically consists of at least 40 hours. Weekend and evening commitments are required.
Highlights of the new Director’s general duties include:
- Generating, directing and supervising the day-to-day administrative activity and execution of the organization, annual festival and year-round events.
- Managing all Fringe staff (hovering around 12 people).
- Recruiting, educating, and managing member development.
- Support the Board of Directors and board development.
- Oversee the hiring/firing/training/evaluation of all direct report employees and contractors.
- Act as liaison for City of Orlando through Entities Board and Loch Haven Park.
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
- Business Acumen- ability to grasp and understand business concepts and issues.
- Conceptual Thinking- ability to think in terms of abstract idea.
- Conflict Resolution- ability to deal with others in an antagonistic situation.
- Judgment- ability to formulate a sound decision using the available information.
- Organized- possessing the trait of being organized or follow a systematic method of performing a task.
- Minimum: BA or BS degree in arts management, public administration, business management or related field. Two years’ experience working with a 501(c)(3), preferably a performing arts company.
- Preferred: MBA or MPA in arts management or related field, 5 years’ experience working with a 501(c)(3) organization, familiarity with technical theatre/state management. Knowledge of the Central Florida arts community.
