Orlando resident Grace Harkins made a wish to be an actress with the folks a the Make-A-Wish
Foundation (Website), and some local filmmakers helped to make that wish come true.
The foundation connected with local filmmaker Robin Hofmann, of Hoffy’s Heart Productions (Website), who wrote a script and assembled a team of over 60 people on the cast and crew, made up of mostly Orlando professionals, who all volunteered their time.
The short film, SpecialTee, stars Harkins as Tee, a student with a disability who stands up to a bully at school and sets something unexpected into motion. Hofmann partnered with John and Laura VonMutius of Mute Majesty Productions (Website), to edit the film.
“Getting to do what I love, while also knowing I was making a difference in the life of this
teen was amazing and so moving” said Laura VonMutius, “if you have the chance to help grant
a kid’s wish, you should jump at that chance.”
The Make-A-Wish Foundation topped off Harkin’s wish by throwing a red-carpet premiere of
the film for her friends and family. In an effort to spread the film’s anti-bullying message as far as possible, SpecialTee is now available to watch and share on Facebook, and we’ve got it attached below.
