The success of Jaws in 1975 spawned a number of awful B-list movies inspired by the “man versus nature” struggle and humanity’s deep-seated fear of the ocean and the things that lived within it. One of those awful movies was Orca.
Directed by Michael Anderson and starring Richard Harris, Charlotte Rampling, and Will Sampson, the film follows one killer whale’s quest for vengeance on a captain that killed its pregnant mate and unborn calf. And it’s pure trash – it has a 3.53/10 on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Nook in the Milk District will host a free screening of the movie as part of its Movie Trash series, an ongoing celebration of terrible cinema, on Saturday, August 13 at 8 p.m. Seating is limited so attendees are encouraged to bring their own chair. Free craft soda from Boylan Soda will be available as well.
The Nook (Facebook) is located at 2432 E. Robinson Street [GMap].
