Out queer rapper, Lil Nas X, is preparing to give birth to his new album Montero on September 17, and in honor of the occasion, he’s just released a gift registry that accepts donations for charities that are near and dear to his heart, including one in Central Florida.
Bros in Convo (Instagram | Website) is a Black queer-led organization that promotes and provides health equity to Black gay, bisexual, queer, and same-gender-loving (GBQ/SGL) men in Central Florida.
The group was launched in September 2017 as a response to the spike in new HIV cases in Black men aged 18-35. They have since expanded their program in coordination with the Florida Department of Health and Building Leaders of Color and are continuing to grow their partnerships and programs in the area.
The registry features a different charity for each of the album’s 15 songs and Bros in Convo comes in at Number 4 with “That’s What I Want” which you can hear in the clip below. The pregnancy theme is complimented by his online campaign posing with a fake pregnant belly, and statements of being pregnant with his new album and waiting for the arrival of his “baby.”
