Commissioner Patti Sheehan, with the help of Commissioner Robert Stuart and Tony Peck, just installed six rainbow Adirondack chairs at Lake Highland Park in Ivanhoe Village in honor of local drag queen and wonderful human being Miss Sammy (Sam Singhaus) who lived nearby and suddenly passed away this week.
Singhaus was a regular face as local fundraisers, events, and hullabaloos and was a talented performer who even starred in La Cage aux Follies on Broadway. As his drag alter ego Miss Sammy, Singhaus helped to raise thousands of dollars for local charities and had a massive impact on the local community, LGTBQ+ or otherwise.
The chairs will remain in the park through to Halloween and the public, family, and friends are invited to use them where they are, leave mementos, and write messages on the chairs.
The only rule is no political messages as it is a public park and they would need to be removed.
